About us and our iron designHistoryThe Norbury family, who have lived in Toft Smithy for 200 years, have been traditionally black smiths. However this changed due to the second world war. Trevor Norbury 47, who is the second eldest of 3 moved out of the smithy in 1974. His parents Mark and Margaret lived in the smithy up until 1998 when Margaret died and 2001 when Mark, also known as Eddie, passed on. Trevor in 19xx, started his iron work business, Iron By Design. The business, has been very much apart of the Knutsford community. Such as supporting events like, Knutsford May Day and The Flower Show. The business was run from his home at 1 Norburys yard. However due to his parents passing on, Toft Smithy has now become a smithy once again. The Norbury home of Toft Smithy has been renovated and the business has taken up its traditional residence there. What we doWe design and create iron fittings, ornaments and furniture. Some of our more popular requests are weathervanes, security gates, curtain polls and signboard fittings. |
